Villa La Pietra

Villa La Pietra is a Renaissance villa in the hills outside Florence, Italy, originally built in the 1460s and given its present form, including a Baroque facade, in the seventeenth century under Cardinal Luigi Capponi, possibly with help from Carlo Fontana. It was later the home of the collector Arthur Acton and his son Harold Acton, who bequeathed the property to New York University on his death in 1994. The villa now houses NYU Florence and displays the Acton family's art collection for teaching.
