The Visconti-Sforza Castle is a medieval castle in the center of the city of Vigevano, in Lombardy, in northern Italy. During the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, members of the Visconti and Sforza families, lords and dukes of Milan, transformed an earlier fortification into an extensive family residence. The castle formed part of a wider plan of urban development for Vigevano that also included other buildings and the construction of the city's central Piazza Ducale.
