White Pine Camp

White Pine Camp is an Adirondack Great Camp on Osgood Pond in Paul Smiths, New York, built in 1907 for the businessman Archibald White to designs by architects William Massarene and Addison Mizner, with construction carried out by contractor Ben Muncil. The thirty five acre property includes twenty structures, among them residential cabins, dining facilities, a bowling alley, an indoor tennis house, boathouses and a Japanese teahouse. From mid July to mid September 1926 the camp served as the summer White House for President Calvin Coolidge. Later owners Adele Levy and Edith Stern, daughters of Sears Roebuck chairman Julius Rosenwald, donated the camp to Paul Smiths College, which used it to house students for about thirty five years before it took on its current dual role as a museum and guest accommodation.
