An urban-planning concept in which most daily needs, work, school, shopping, healthcare and leisure, can be met within a fifteen-minute walk or bicycle ride of home. Scientist and urbanist Carlos Moreno introduced the idea in a 2016 opinion piece as an aspirational call for polycentric cities, and Paris mayor Anne Hidalgo adopted it as city policy from her 2020 re-election campaign, accelerating its rollout during the COVID-19 pandemic.
