ASTM International, formerly the American Society for Testing and Materials, is a standards organisation founded in 1902 as the American Section of the International Association for Testing Materials. Headquartered in West Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, with additional offices in Belgium, Canada, China, Peru and Washington, D.C., it develops and publishes voluntary consensus technical standards, more than 12,500 of which apply globally, through some 30,000 members organised into over 150 technical committees and more than 2,100 subcommittees. Its standards, including many governing building materials and construction products, are among the most widely used voluntary technical standards in the world.
