Castello Orsini-Odescalchi is a Renaissance castle on the southern shore of Lake Bracciano in Bracciano, Lazio, about 30 kilometres from Rome, built between 1470 and 1485 to a design by Francesco di Giorgio Martini. It combined the roles of a military defensive structure and a civilian residence for the feudal lords who held it, the Orsini and later the Borgia and Odescalchi families, and is counted among the largest and best-preserved castles in Italy. A museum inside the castle opened in 1952 and displays weapons, furniture, paintings, books and manuscripts spanning more than six centuries of papal and royal rule, and the castle has become a well-known wedding venue, hosting the 2006 wedding of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes.
