British architect, born 1935, leader of high-tech architecture and of one of the largest design practices in the world: the Hongkong and Shanghai Bank headquarters, the glass dome of the rebuilt Reichstag in Berlin, the Millau Viaduct and the Gherkin at 30 St Mary Axe, London. He received the Pritzker Prize in 1999.
