Transport Hub

Building Types and Traditions as Concepts

A transport hub is a place where passengers and cargo are exchanged between vehicles or between transport modes. The cited article says public transport hubs include railway stations, rapid transit stations, bus stops, tram stops, airports and ferry slips, that freight hubs include classification yards, airports, inland ports, seaports and truck terminals or combinations of these, and that for private transport by car the parking lot functions as an unimodal hub. In the atlas it names the building type of airport, ferry and other transport terminals. Buildings recorded in the atlas as transport terminals are grouped under this concept.
